The Misfit Vapor 2 is the second attempt at a smartwatch from Misfit, which has gone down even better than the previous one. This watch is designed to sit somewhere in between a premium, fashionable smartwatch, and a must-have for fitness lovers. It doesn’t do either of those things perfectly, but it does a great job doing both. It has a very pleasant appearance though it doesn’t cost the same amount as some of the expensive smartwatches in the market.

The Misfit Vapor 2 design and display

The Misfit Vapor 2 does not stray far away from the original Vapor’s design, and it is great. It still features a rounded aluminum minimalistic case that is not overly flashy. All Misfit Vapor 2 models come with a silicone strap that is durable enough for the gym and nice enough to wear with a dressier outfit. It won’t appeal to everyone, but certainly, it has a great design.

The Misfit Vapor 2 comes in two models this year, 46mm with 1.39-inch AMOLED screen and 41mm with a 1,19-inch AMOLED screen. The one we are reviewing is the 46mm, it is too big for some but this fits almost every man’s wrist.

The display on the Misfit Vapor 2 46mm model is great. It gets very bright and dim, and the auto-brightness is usually very accurate.

A rotatable crown sits on the right side of the watch case. It is nice having an extra way to navigate around the Wear OS, though the crown can be difficult to rotate. It just requires more effort than other watches.

The Misfit Vapor 2 performance and software

The Misfit Vapor 2 runs on the year-old Snpadragon Wear 2100 chipset, despite the Snapdragon 3100 already being available. The Misfit Vapor 2 struggles trying to switch between multiple apps, or even closing one app and trying to open another. Launching the Play Store or using Google Assistant voice command slows the watch down quite a bit too. Even archiving an email can make the watch unresponsive for a few seconds.

In terms of performance, there are fortunately no major issues to be aware of, even with the 2-years old Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. For the most part, apps load quickly and you will experience lag when accessing the Google Play Store on the smartwatch. There is also 4GB of storage, you can store music directly on the device.

With 328 pixels per inch, the display resolution is sharp on the circular 1.2-inch AMOLED display, and you will have trouble viewing content in direct sunlight. With the Misfit Vapor 2. Unfortunately, we did see a few scrapes. So, it means that the scratch-resistance is not at its best.

The Misfit Vapor 2 built-in GPS

The original Vapor included a heart-rate sensor, but the Misfit Vapor 2 adds built-in GPS. When using Google Fit to track distance during your runs, those who like to see a visual of their runs or bike rides will have to use their smartphones. For now, Google Fit on Wear OS only tracks how far you run and does not show an actual map like it does on the app.

The Misfit Vapor 2 heart-rate monitor is extremely accurate, in addition, the Misfit Vapor 2 will also track steps, calorie burned, distance traveled, and heart-rate through Google Fit and Google Fit Workout.

To track your heart-rate throughout the day, you will have to opt-in to the feature of the smartwatch. Your beats per minute will be updated every 20 minutes and tracked through the Google Fit app which you can refer to at any time to see your BPM during all hours of the day. To preserve battery life, you can also choose to manually measure your heart-rate throughout the day instead.

The Misfit Vapor 2 watch faces to choose from

There are also plenty of watch faces to choose from on Misfit Vapor 2 that display your heart-rate. That way, you can simply view your BPM at a glance. But for those who like to keep the information private, there are plenty of designs to choose from that don’t list the metric for all to see.

The Misfit Vapor 2 fitness

The original Vapor had some major fitness problems. It did not have GPS, the touch-sensitive bezel caused workouts to end prematurely and the heart rate sensor was not the most accurate. Luckily, the Misfit Vapor 2 fixed all these problems.

From the workouts and touch sensitivity, as well as the heart rate monitor, fixed the new Misfit Vapor 2 has both Misfit’s own fitness app as well as Google Fit to use, which comes in both Google Fit and Fit workout. The fit keeps track of your workouts and, with a quick swipe to the right, you will get to see the Fit rings, your move minutes and heart points.

Fit workout on the other hand, where you can track and do some set of exercises. There is more standard stuff like walking, running, and biking, but there is also strength training, swimming, elliptical, cricket and more.

The Misfit Vapor 2 battery life

The Misfit Vapor 2 can last a day and well, that is born out to be true. Its 300mAh battery gets you through the day without a problem, whether you are using GPS or working out or just getting thousands of notifications. The Misfit Vapor 2 breezes through the day. Trying to push through the second day without charging is not advised.
