In the year of the Aquatimer family, IWC presents the redesigned Aquatimer Chronograph which is available in four steel versions to satisfy different tastes of its future owners. Compared with their predecessors, these newcomers are not only more elegant, but they also have considerably higher water resistance.

The Schaffhausen-based watchmaker has redesigned the signature chronograph of the Aquatimer line and, at the same time, gave it a more sporty and elegant aesthetics.

The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph IW376801 case, dial, and hands

The watch case with a diameter of 44mm and the height 17mm is crafted from stainless steel with a rubber coating. The case is equipped with a rotating outer and inner bezel with the SafeDive system which combines the advantages of an internal rotating bezel with the ease of use of an external rotating bezel. The external rotating bezel with its SafeDive system can be turned simply in steps of one minute, even when wearing diving gloves.

The case features the rubber coating which is applied to the case under the influence of heat and pressure during the curing process technology. The case is shielded with convex sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides. It is constructed to resist water pressure up to 300 meters (approximately 1,000 feet). Compared to the previous Aquatimer Chronographs, the new model has the newly acquired cover on the sliding clutch system located at the 9 o’clock position.

The watch’s dial comprises three sub-dials, hour markers, hands and day and date windows. The distinctly purist design of the dial recalls the look of the very first Aquatimers from 1967. The luminescent material is applied on hands, dial and the internal rotating bezel.

The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph IW376801 movement

The beating heart of the redesigned Aquatimer Chronograph is the robust caliber 79320 mechanical movement that provides no less than 44 hours of power reserve when fully charged. The self-winding mechanism facilitates stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours which makes it a reliable companion even on long-lasting dives. Divers appreciate an ongoing indication that everything is functioning normally. This job is handled by the permanently rotating second’s hand in the counter at the 9 o’clock position.

The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph IW376801 bracelet

The new Aquatimer Chronograph watch fitted with the new IWC bracelet quick-change system which provides a fast and easy way of swapping the wristlets: a rubber strap for a stainless steel bracelet and vice versa.

IWC offers two models with black dials and there is a choice between a rubber strap and a steel bracelet (their referent numbers are IW376803 and IW376804). For those who prefer silver-plated dials, there are also two models attached either to a rubber band or a steel bracelet (their referent numbers are IW376801 and IW376802).

Thanks to the discreet colors and shapes, the new Aquatimer Chronograph is perfectly suited for all types of occasions, from business meetings to underwater activities.
